This workshop aims to promote the responsible and effective use of Artificial Intelligence in academic research. The workshop featured expert lectures by Prof. Manish Shirgaokar from University of Colorado Denver, USA and Prof. Arnab Jana from IIT Bombay, who shared insights on the application of AI in planning research, urban science, and engineering education. Participants also attended sessions on literature search, reference management using Mendeley, plagiarism detection, institutional regulations, and ethical AI practices in academic writing. Dr. Kakoli Saha, Dr. Suchismita Nayak and Dr. Adithya Bandari discussed the identification of AI-generated content and ethical practices in academic writing. Sessions by Dr. Mukesh Pathak focused on literature search, plagiarism detection, reference management using Mendeley, and institutional regulations on AI. A hands-on training session enabled participants to explore AI-assisted research tools while emphasizing academic integrity and responsible scholarship. The workshop provided students and faculty with practical knowledge and contemporary perspectives, strengthening their research capabilities in the evolving landscape of AI-enabled higher education.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning, School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal, organized a one-week Report Writing Workshop from 6–13 April 2026 for the B.Plan and MURP Thesis Batches (2025–26). The workshop was designed to strengthen students' research methodology, analytical thinking, and academic writing skills through a series of expert lectures, interactive discussions, and hands-on mentoring sessions. Key topics included literature review, research methodology, report structuring, spatial and statistical data representation, referencing, visualization techniques, and conclusion writing. Faculty members provided continuous guidance and iterative feedback, enabling students to refine their thesis reports and improve the clarity, coherence, and academic rigor of their research. The workshop served as a valuable platform for enhancing scientific writing skills and fostering a research-oriented approach among future planners, contributing to the overall quality of undergraduate and postgraduate thesis work.
